I think improved site design and content can triple a site's traffic in a month (This is assuming the SEO effort has not increased.) In other words, even if I make no effort at SEO my traffic will increase. Does anyone agree? That's my plan right now because I can't think of anyway to increase SEO (SEO that gets me 240 visitors a day). I mean think about it. Harmony-Central.com gets thousands of people a day but has no ranking for any search terms.
Wrong on many levels and there are few if any that have any business comparing harmony-Central to themselves. Nigel
I don't understand what you mean. I'm saying good content and design might get you at least 1000 people a day.
Better way to get traffic without SEO is bookmarking, alot of people go there and if you get few friends to bump up ur post you will get traffic rolling with with minimal effort
It might move a little bit but not triple. Probably it's going to stay the same without link building
Design is much important for conversions rather for getting traffic. Content/design will play vital role in getting good sales, returning visitors more page views etc.. But i think you need to do marketing always for huge traffic and it may include any or bunch of activity like seo, ppc, affiliates, banner advertising, email campaigns.
Good design is only for retaining visitors. If the site design is not very user friendly then expect 0% bounce rate.
You should keep building content. Design isn't too important as opposed to what is said. The most plain looking sites with the rigth words make more money than fancy pieces of art. Keep building links in the form of SEO of you might be wasting your time. - Chris
This is what everyone on this forum wants to do, and it is the hardest thing on earth to figure out. The only other way beyond SEO is for something about your site to go viral, which is much easier said than done unless you are an incredibly creative person and can do something that will be outrageously funny or shocking to a lot of people.
Ask yourself 2 simple questions: 1. "who" is your targeted audience? What niche are they in? Are there age, race, religion or other demographics? 2. "what" are they looking for? Do they want podcast, videos, ebooks, pdf files, videos,,,,, what "exactly" is your targeted audience wanting? Then work out an advertising program to target your audience. Whether its banners on facebook, videos on youtube, articles, downloadable podcast, ebooks,,,,, produce a unique product that will target your audience.
You can use paid ads such as google adwords to get more flows.SEO is not everything. But updating and optimization of your website on and on is very important.
Why would you create content and not perform on site SEO on it? As mentioned site design has absolutely nothing to do with getting traffic. 45.3% of harmony-centrals traffic comes from searches. Most come there while searching the word "harmony". They also have over a 60% bounce rate meaning 60% of the people going there leave immediately. They also have 49 listings in Dmoz, 26 listings in the Yahoo directory, 244 pages on wikipedia, 271,000 Y links, over 3 million pages, and more: http://siteanalytics.compete.com/harmony-central.com/ So it looks like they have done some of their SEO homework
Iv'e done plenty of SEO and get 240 daily visitors (all from SEO). However, successful sites get 1000 or 2000 people daily. So my goal is to improve the design and content ASAP. Bingo. That's how some guitar sites get big. They go on YouTube. However, I don't make original material (other than written stuff) on the site so I have rely on "word of mouth".
