Find a domain registrar, godaddy, namecheap, enom etc. Check the "Where to buy a domain from?" in section to find out more. These registrar will have promotion from time to time. You can get cheap domain name as low as $1 sometimes. Check the Vouchers Forum of DP. A domain name is not everything you need for a website. You will also need to find a host to host your files.
Go to http://dynadot.com and purchase the domain you want for $9.99 a year. Great service from them. Chad
Use godaddy.com as its the no1 website registrar in the world and use coupon codes u will get a domain for cheap price.
you can get a domain to a web hosting company, and in my case i purchased my website's domain name in webdirectaccess .com, they have many available domain names with reasonable prices, and with 24/7 customer support, you will be assisted by them at any time
I strongly advise AGAINST using the domain that comes free with hosting, as you might want to ask youself what will happen with your domain if you decide to cancel your plan and move to a different hosting company
Go godaday i f you get 4 and more it is quite cheap and also use domain and hosting seperated advised.
Hello olloboy, Simple, get it with your hosting provider. Consider a custom extension domain nowadays. Such as .list .co or the like The are becoming really popular. Cheers,
You can use NameRip.com to see what's available, I think they have .COM and .INFO's via 1and1 for 99cents until July 1st.
Sign up with almost any hosting company and get 1-3 free domains. Don't waste your money registering domains and then finding a host.
thats a stupid suggestion if you value your domain names (an you should), because your "free" domains will become the hostage of your hosting contract and you will likely to have problems transfering them out to an independent registrar should you want to cancel or move your hosting, but keep the domains!
no no no no and no. Your throwing away your money here. For a start, alot of hosting companies have a bad control panel for managing domain names. Hostgator is a good hosting company and i am telling you that is one of the worst control panel for domain names ever (other hosts are worse and some have no panel at all) You need a good registrar with a good easy to use control panel. Additionally most of the companies offering free domain names do this to get you there. But once your there, try getting your domains out of there! Good luck! Its common for someone to find out the hosting company cant meet their needs, and to transfer the domain name out will cost $500 or so... This is common and happens alot. Also do you have any idea on how many hosts each week go under, or get flipped to total noobs? And in these situations, your domains are stuck. Just the other day i was reading about a host that fired its key staff to save money, and a few weeks after had services halt, and all clients couldnt transfer domains out. Another thing you havent considered, is there are small hosts out there that are 1 man shows. If the guy is run over, heart attack, hospital or whatever, then your domain name is gone. If you value your site and your domain, then buy your domain name at a registrar, i use and recommend namecheap.com, if you support murdering elephants then go for godaddy.com (and enjoy your hourly spam from them for upgrades) As for the host itself, keep backups. I dont care if they back it up every 2 mins for you, keep your own backups either at home, or using a separate backup solution, because experience has proven that with a majority of hosts, its never a question if they will fail, but rather a matter of time until they do fail.
