Hi..I'm not so experienced SEO but as far as i think that if your site is about social network so for that you need more 'n more user interaction then only these kind of sites may stand somewhere in the online markets. First of all tell your friends via yahoo mail or gmail about your site good values and this service may be beneficial to them. one more simple way is to add the site url in the signature column. Try out this trick i think this could bring some instant traffic to your site.
Oh...Do one more thing just try to spread your site through yahoo answer, answer bag nd also through making comments on the top media sites..
For SEO 1. Do keyword research 2. Submit your website to directories / other websites with your keyword-ed anchor text 3. Optimize your webpage(s) for your keywords
yeah .. keyword reseearch is a very imporatant factor ... make sure you target the right niche and not just another social networking site on the net
Have you tried free classified postings? Do some social bookmarking, yahoo answers also helps, join groups and invite them. Theres are lots of ways you can improve traffic, just read the forums. Good luck!
