    Hi there,

I'm relatively new to SEO and I've been wondering about something. Namely, how can I find out how much traffic a certain website is getting. Ofcourse I do not have access to the statistics of other peoples websites, so I was wondering if there's any way of finding this out ..

    Thanks,
    FOP

Of course the downside of Alexa is that it takes a long time, usually several weeks, for them to list a new website and record its traffic. I don't think there are any alternatives though, so if it's a new site just sit and wait for a few weeks!

A combination of Alexa and Google Analytics is what I like the most. I am sure you can easily find these services online and further details on how to use them.

    Best regards

I use google analytics and statcounter....alexa is not remotely accurate unless you are in the top 100,000 sites on the internet and even then the data is skewed towards SEO, technology and webmaster related sites because we are the ones that have the alexa toolbar installed.

May be he want to estimate traffic of competitors.

If you have your own site detected by alexa, you can directly compare alexa rankings to estimate traffic of the other site i guess.
