I urgently need a competent hacker. No bank scams involved and I'll pay for results. I need to sort out a handful of spammy blog sites that have around 4,000 links to our site embedded in their footers). As a result we've got a Google penalty, we're losing money like no-one's business and there are people here who won't pay next month's mortgage. Given that I've asked these sites nicely and also got nowhere with their hosting companies, I'd like to get in, remove these links, then out again. No harm done. Anyone got any ideas before I lose the roof over my head? tony_spinner@live.com Thanks
As far as I know, google doesn't penalize for something that you have no control over. Also, if in fact you got penalized by google, what makes you think removal of those links will cancel the penalty? Why not talk to Google instead? I mean, it's gonna be hell of a lot of work to remove links form sites that you don't have direct access to and it will be a very simple process for people who own those files to put the links back. I'm sorry to hear you’re having troubles, but I'm not sure the solution you’re pursuing will deliver results.
I've more chance of an email from God than a reply from Google; I've tried. I too used to think Google never penalised you for one-way inbound links but I don't think that's so cut-and-dried any more. I've actually got a good number of people to remove the links but others (including one spam site with 3,500 of them), no. They're embedded in the blog template so once taken out (especially if done clandestinely) it's unlikely anyone will bother putting them back. Will it work? At this stage if someone told me running down my high street naked would work I'd try it.
