Hello, I am preparing to launch a web site that implements an innovative collaborative process, and I would like to earn some revenue by including the Google AdWords code on my page. One of the attributes of my site's process is that it can generate specific words reflecting areas of interest to users at any particular time (these words are generated automatically based on priorities that the user selects). Is there some way that I can feed those exact words to the Google AdWords engine so that it can produce ads that are most appropriate based on those priorities? I know how to insert the Google JavaScript code on my web page, but it is my understanding that Google will look at the contents of the entire page on which the code is hosted to determine which ad to pull up. Is there some way I can ask Google to focus on specific words produced by my algorithm, i.e. an API function or tags on the page? Thanks for any pointers, --IO
There are pay per click advertising services similar to Google that allow you to select the keywords you want to pull ads with, but I'm pretty sure Google AdSense will not allow you to do that.
Thanks for the answer. So to be clear, the Google script decides which ads to show by looking at the content of the entire page, right? Do the "keywords" and "description" meta tags carry any additional weight?
it's been my experience that onpage keywords carry almost all the weight with Adsense, but you can influence the ads by adding keywords in the ALT tags, etc. if you don't want to junk up the site with lots of keywords
