    I don't recommend doing this for any site that you are making your "main" website. Link exchanges are frowned on by Google, and if you are found to be participating in link exchanges, it is possible that your site will take a hit in its rankings.

    Honestly if I were you I wouldn't be worried about links exchange, be more worried about how to get backlinks without exchanging links because Google is beginning to penalize any websites who do exchange links unless you have some of the people links to your website without you linking it back.

    It is better to work hard on getting natural backlinks than exchanging links. Natural backlinks are safe and good for long term, but I doubt about exchange links.
