How can I do this with Joomla?

OK if you take a look at: www.athsepublishing.com under books you can see they have been added manually in something like frontpage with both buttons linking to another site.

What I need to do now is put these in a Joomla type site. Most of the buttons on the content editing don't seem to work so I cannot just input an image quickly and link since they don't seem to work tidy. So how would I do this?

I have quite a bit too add as well and I wouldn't be able to use a ecommerce option since this place is not selling them due to various issues they are just linking the product to a shopping cart thing on another site.

Oh yeah, sorry. Well the only thing stopping me really from putting links and images into the new site was because I used www. in front when logging into the administration. I left this out as the person told me too and now I can use the features in the content toolbar.
