The amount of time you'll invest in learning how to use a crappy "one page website building tool" would be much better spent learning basic HTML and CSS.
If you only want to build simple single page sites, this is something you can learn in a weekend.

Like Kerosene said, don't waste your time learning tools for single pages.

Open Notebook and start learning HTML, which is all you really need to know to build a simple webpage.

First Wordpress is not a website builder, it's a CMS solution. If your limited in programming and design skills, try checking out a template company. Either Monster templates or theme forest should have what you are looking for.

Good points, templates will allow you to build a website and your understanding of html / css. As mentioned wordpress is not a website builder, though a blog / cms, designed for managing a website, it is easy to start and manage, and could help with your websites. I learnt html and css by modifying templates in dreamweaver (as it is predictive), then building personally designed websites (breaking the image and design) followed by learning xhtml.
If you are pressed for time, as you mention, wordpress is useful and easy to start a site, templates are useful, personally I would use cms made simple, its an absolute breeze using it, and v.easy to modify if you decided to learn html and css...
    good luck.
