How can i create mirror effects in photoshop?

Can any one help me with how to make the mirror effects in photoshop.
With mirror efects i mean something appearing in the oposite direcion as it appears in the mirror as well as the inverted shadow efect below text.

Please can any one help

 

Do you have an example of what you're trying to achieve on photoshop? You can mirror a layer by rotating it horizontally (side by side) or vertically (up and down) and then lowering the opacity..

 

Ya i am familiar with flip horizonal and vertical. Just dont know or cant lower the opacity

duplicate layer > flip vertical > lower opacity some > erase the bottom half > DONE.

In stead of erasing you can add a gradient half opac to the background color.

 

Yes, I hope you achieved that mirror effect look you want. Also, why not search for mirror effect photoshop tutorials in the search engines.

 

Thanks for your rea openions. But to lower the opacity what do i use. Is it hue or saturation or what?

 

it says opacity lol, you just lower it...

 

Window>layers, top right says opactity, lower that to about 50%

copy the layer
flip it upside down
place it right under the original image with a pixel of space in between
use a big soft brush and go over the bottom of the duplicate
play with the opacity

bingo!

 

This one is the best looking method, but it wont work e.g. if you use a font which already has a gradiant as color..

Thanks life31, and nightshift, it will. What you do is hide all the layers other then the one you want to add the gradient to that already has a gradient on it. Make a new layer then do image>apply image. Then delete the layer with the gradient, show all the other layers then add the gradient to the one you applied image to

There are also great recorded actions that are online to do this for you in PS too. If you are a newb, then go for that, but if you want more control, then do it yourself with the steps above.
