I could be wrong, but my experience lately tells me that link wheels might be getting overused and recognized by Google. A better strategy IMO is using a tier system. Point your backlinks, blogs and articles to your money sight, but don't link the links, blogs and articles to each other - Just build more seperate links out from the links blogs and articles. My research tells me Google recognizes the loop, and know it's not something that would naturally happen. Just my experience, hope that helps.
Link wheels, pyramids etc all still work but you have to really randomize things. No doubt the G algorithm is picking up certain things, but you can still get around it if you focus on randomizing.
Building backlink around a webpage or article can give you a huge boost in a search engine ranking.If you really boost your ranking ,you can build multiple wheel around a single article.You can also build secondary wheel around each of the pages in the organic wheel.Just make sure your you build your backlink slowly and stability that your webpage doesn't get sandbox.
