How can I create google API like digg API?

    I am running a social bookmarking site which has boost up with lot of traffic now days. I have done all my users were asking from me. They wanted social tools I have created, they wanted wordpress pluggins I have supplied to them. Now I would like to create Google API for my site.

    Where should I start with any idea ? I am wanting like digg API.
