I used a web site to view the back links of other sites similar to mine. These site have hundreds of links in google and msn and thousands in all the web. as for my site, i have about 10, 20, 30, and 40 links in other search engines but 0 in google (i think google is ignoring me). how do i get hundreds and thousands with out requesting a link exchange. I dont believe that link exchange really works
Links will come naturally as you site get bigger, its generally at the start that you need to get back links manually you can do this by submitting to web directories and article directories you can start here Web Directory Article Directory
do social bookmarking also, some amount of blogging, & for link exchange, it can work if you get your links in good quality pages.
you need to be a little patience, it takes time. plus there are many other ways to promote and build back links. link exchange is good but not with anyone. i mean if you exchange like with a low rank site, its not going help you that much. but don't give up. you just have to be persistence and you will see result, maybe not in couple of weeks, but in a couple of months. again the more you work on it the faster it will happen.good luck

I know many people have asked this same question. The problem is that it seems that only a few are successful at generating good quality links thus bringing in traffic. It seems as though the successful site owners know something that they are not telling anyone else. Lets analyze some of the suggested strategies that are listed in this forum. article submissions: You need good writing skills to make this work. Also you need a good topic that will catch on to readers thus search engines will post the links on their sites. Its not as easy as it sound. PPC: Very expensive! no guarantee that people are not clicking on you page to drive up your cost. competitors can raise their bids to break your bank. Sometime you just seem to be dropped out of the system altogether. My guess is that the companies do this when you are not biding enough money. this happened to me with google, yahoo, myspace and facebook ppc programs. Forum post: forums can be a source of back links but they rigorously scan for spam, this is a problem. Nobody wants spam but what if a mod accuses you of spamming when you are not. this has happened to me. I make sure i read rules to see what i can and cant do but one mod still sent me a message saying stop spamming. Recently i made two post in a forum related to video games. the post where on topic and provided information. there where no links in my post but seconds later i was banned from that forum with no reasons and never to return again. I sent a message asking why i was banned but got no reply. Link exchange: I think this is worthless and google warns against it. Blog: This may work but i have not tested this option yet. Directories: Who searches directories? i would like to know. Any further comments? please post.
Its a most common question. How you check your site link on Google? You may check it link:your-site-name.com at google. Yes one way link is good for make backlink. I have the google toolbar with the page rank icon. in over 4 months my page rank is still 0 and no back links in google. I used the link popularity on sitesubmit.ca to get my back link from other search engines.
you are start Directory Submissions, Social Bookmarking, Social Networking, Forum Posting, Write Blog, Article submission.. Bown Smith
Here's a good explaination of why google doesn't show you all your backlinks. Where are all my backlinks
in my opinion the best way for starting building bl is dofollow blog commenting you can find lots of info on that topic here on forum, using the search option
To start with, you can get another link from this forum (in your signature). You can find many other dofollow forums and contribute there. You have plenty of 'free' methods for generating links that others have recommended. Create something good, talk about it and people will link to it.
make popular your website so you will get back links automatically but before you have popular you must publish your website in thousand sites.
As i mentioned earlier that i haven't tried blogs yet. how can you tell if a site is do follow? do i look at the source codes?
Im not sure how important link building is anymore. Maybe in the near future PageRank will be obsolete... whats next?
