I am running a forum that has been only opened for 2 months. This other forum has been open for about a year and a half.

I would like to actually hire someone to help me out with the meta keywords I have and do all my SEO work so I can pull more members.

I have VBSEO installed (default settings)
My forum is private so you must sign up to view the forum.
1 Reason why I have it private it so that this other forum wont take my ideas and thoughts.

This other site he pulls in about 20 new members daily. How can I do the same?

Also how can I get Google to crawl thru my private forum?

a short url to my site is www.mytmf.com

    Thanks!

Hire users to post on your competitor's forum and have your forum in their signatures :)
Just make sure you have some valuable information on your forum and a decent level of user activity.

I don't have much experience with forums but I'm pretty sure nobody will ban given the fact that your posts provide value. That was an insider "attack" idea.
See if you can find out the main keywords your competitor is targeting and try to outrank him (a lot of backlinks will do the job in a reasonable amount of time).

I don't think forum optimized keyword would get fast enough to catch your competitor. You need more exposure and zexy is right. Other forum won't ban you just because of your signature unless you make spam posts or threads. Making it private could make it a bit more harder but perhaps uniqueness could give you some attraction. Well testing is the way to go. You never know if you never try. :)

Hi Forum Posters to write SEO-enhanced posts for you. Also, instruct them to pull traffic from other forums. Post items on your forums that can be linked to and many people from differing places (social bookmarks, social networks, email lists, etc etc) will link to or click on. Think LINKBAIT!!

The only thing you can beat your competitor in this scenario is by article submission and linkbacks... you can beat him by seo but not by number of members.. number of members will take time..

If Google can't crawl your private forum, then how is it going to get listed in search engine for important keywords? At least search engine listing might get some new members searching for questions to register at your site. If you let it crawl, then hire some good posters who are expert in this field and make valuable posts with good info and help the new members. This is how forum build up and grow from scratch. New members + Old (pro) members to help.

Provide useful and updated informations in your own forum.

Hire someone who will join and participate in other related forums. Promote it or you may even ask some members to come and visit your site.

    Or just optimize it
