How can i block ip from linux sever in Amazon instance?

I have a website hosted on linux on amazon instance and i wish to block, a specific ip, a range of ip from accessing my website for security concerns. I looked everywhere but couldn't find anything specific to this concern. I would be happy if anyone could share their thought on how to do this. No cpanel by the way.

If you're using Apache, you can use an .htaccess file to deny specific IPs like so:

If your on word press there are many plugins that help with blocking a IP address xample http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/vsf-simple-block/ I only use word press. Whats MY IP Address
