i'm looking for advice on what i can do to better rank my site on yahoo website url: http://www.castle-episodes.com/ all suggestions would be greatly appreciated
I think there are many factors included , how old and trusted is the domain, html validation=green ,anchor text in ibl, meta tags, lots of ibl ,but whats the point I rank on top searches but main traffic is google.
yeah; I have a much easier time in google; yahoo is more about content and your actual in site tags whereas google is more on linking; I haven't figured out yahoo myself with too much success
actually prefer yahoo cause it more stable ... i have a site tht yahoo bring consistent traffic (200uv) and google bring only 5-10 uv
why do you want to rank high on yahoo while Google posses 80% of market shares? Just keep with Google and the rest will come
Why is google always the answer?.... because they dont know why their sites even rank in yahoo....., I feel like yahoo gives more importance to quality backlinks, age of the site and good on site optimization. Of course a listing on the yahoo directory will boost your rankings too.
Yahoo has good amount of search volume global, whereas Google in US is much larger. But I'd also like to learn, how to get more traffic from Yahoo so I can decrease my reliance on Google traffic.
Yahoo can be said to focus over the on page factors more than Google when it comes to give rankings to websites. Of course this does not mean links are useless in the Yahoo algo.
for me i prefer Yahoo cause i did nothing (nothing means no back link build, just normal promo) for my site but received good traffic from yahoo and it stable ... not like google, u need to post, build backlink, good backlink, find PR and bla bla .... the thing i did : 1. Update once a week. 2. Submit to 5 social bookmark for each post. (yahoo buzz included). 3. Site base on wordpress. I did the same thing everyweek, nothing change for almost a year, i do received good traffic (60%) from google when the site started, but today SE traffic is totally different ... this month traffic stat (3098 UV 24k pageview) : Yahoo 59% Direct 11.1% google 6.39% image.google 4.39% the rest from google country and referring site.
Heavy linking to of your website to relevant website that has higher rank in yahoo search can put your position high. And interestingly enough they say if you have higher rank in yahoo you will definitely have higher rank in google search too.
Log into your yahoo site explorer account and submit a sitemap. If your site has an RSS feed, you can submit that as well. This will help yahoo get your pages indexed faster. After you have submitted a site map to your yahoo site explorer account, sign up for a yahoo blog log account. This will give your site a link from inside yahoo.
I lost around $200-$400 the last couple of month from one of my sites that I'm selling right now. The reason, I din't take care of Yahoo like I used too. But, do know that if you optimize your sites for Google and only Google... - Ask.com will rank you in the top 5 positions if you've sufficient link strenght and have consistently acquired relevant links (relevant I've notice for years that it can be article directories!) - Without going into debate/percentages among others, Google has the biggest audience percentage for any niche. Of course, we can frame this sentence to our liking And... If you REALLY, REALLY want great Yahoo rankings. Here are my two useful suggestions that have work wonders for me and many others here are DP: - Use articlemarketer.com (adjust to their submission rules, even if you might not like them) - Use isnare.com (be very patient with their paid submission process, it takes time and a couple of beers if you're going to seat and wait) - Use ezinearticles.com to submit every single article. Google loves Ezinearticles, I've found that no matter how many hundreds of links available article submission services already have index (700+ or more with same title, content) and you submit the article to Ezinearticles, if they approve it, Google usually/often keeps the content ranking high in search engines. Hope this helps you. Back in 2006 I learned a lot from IBP, internet business promoter software. Fantastic bargain at those times, the price may still be reasonable. Lots of free tools found here also, so quick search on similarities won't hurt neither. Love search engine optimization...
To answer the original poster's question, you should update content on your site daily in some way. Doesn't have to be big but a little change and update goes a long way in site ranking. Another way is to get people to link to your site.
