How can I avoid the dup content filter?

    Hi,

I have bought a site from auction and two copies where sold.

It is one of those collection of articles site.

I know I have to change it to avoid the dup content filter but how?

Is it true that the surrounding HTML makes it unique? Or should I maybe have a few random paragraphs at the top of the article pages?

    Any suggestions?

You can print screen and paste it in photoshop and make it all a picture then post it back on your site as a picture, that will get rid of the duplicate content.

But of course wont help you one bit. :)

I would just bust out the thesaurus. Change as many words as you can without making it look stupid. Shouldnt take too long to change.

    70+ articles!

I am not spending more than 2 hours on this site.

2 hours to make 70 pages unique, if you had to write 70 articles it would take you 2 weeks.

I don't understand how your answer will help me.

A site with 70 articles (the ones you can get for free with a link back) and two copies were sold so there are two exact same sites ones on the net. I need to change mine to avoid it to be delisted by Google.

My question was, how do I best do that?

    PHP Random?
    Changing surrounding HTML?
    Adding sitewide paragraphs?

Would like an answer from someone who has experience from this please, thanks.

    EDIT:

I give the URLs to make it more clear:

http://www.Allaboutseo.info - Original that was sold
http://www.seoforreal.com - Second copy that was sold to me and will be changed by me to make it unique.

in my experience as long as the page layouts, images etc are unique it will be fine. (eg. Hotels all submit the same text to all the sites they list on and if you search for an hotel, hundreds of sites will come up with that hotels info). So it is the surrounding HTML that must be unique.

My previous answer refererred to the comments above. You state you will not spend two hours to edit the 70 articles to make them unique. I'm asking how long would it take you to write 70 articles from scratch, a lot longer than 2 hours?

    Yes a lot longer.

I will not edit the articles as they are not written by me. To change an article someone else has written would be unethical IMO.

But it is not the articles that are the problem, it is that ther is two exact same sites.

I will do the changes I thought up and I hope that will prevent it.

Make your pages as unique as possible.
Templates, rss feeds, titles, descriptions, urls, anything you can possibly change then change them. :)
