    I am not a expert, but more backlinks will help to get PR. But I will suggest you to work on content of your website. Good content will give your site traffic which is far better than PR.

    There is only one way to get a higher PageRank - build more backlinks from quality sites.
    Make sure they are DoFollow because NoFollow links won't increase PR.

    if you concentrate your link building efforts on high quality relevant links your PR will increase faster. for example, one of my sites only has 1 backlink pointing to it from an extremely relevant PR 4 website, and now my website is a PR 3, with 1 backlink!

    link building. try contacting other websites of a similar nature to yours and see if they will link to you.

    Try to get good back links because Pr more depend on Inbound links..................Higher the links higher the Pr.

    For better page rank you'll need quality links for each pages because search engine give importance of each page all together.

    I've seen this many times, and it speaks volumes to what quality links can do. The last site I saw with one backlink was a PR 5 with a single backlink from a PR 6 site. It was an extremely relevant backlink from an authority site...

    build back links to your site by posting in do follow forums like these, you'll need many thousands but it will work for you in the long term
