The link operator in Google doesn't work. They only show a handful of your backlionks publicly as a matter of policy.
To see your google links you need to register with Google Webmaster tools.
Yahoo site explorer is the most reliable way to see backlinks - most 3rd party tools use the Yahoo API.

You can check your backlinks in different ways like yahoo site explorer, Google Webmaster tools and backlinkwatch.com ...Sometimes I tried using any of this services or a combination of both

 

Goto yahoo and type in: site:yoursite.com

Make sure you put in the www. or leave it out depending on your site.

 

Just a hint: When you check your backlinks, the tend not to be accurate. They are build but they can't see right away, just wait for a couple of days and you will surely see all of your backlinks made for your site.

Well to know of how many backlinks already that you created, you can check that using the backlinkwatch.com or the yahoo site explorer.

 

Just download google toolbar and then click on the page rank it will open drop down list the last one is backlinks just click and see your backlinks...

Remember that a lot of them cannot show áll of your backlinks. Especially Google only shows some of them.
