Investors, they have thousands of links and hundreds being submitted daily, and am sure that they own other sites.
Often theres no proof of anything given away in promises in competitions and things like that. I could announce that im giving away a new computer then have someone pretend they were the winner and theres no way of disputing it. Like testimonials, i know because a while back i wrote one myself to get a copy of some $90 software, and all i had to do was big up the product, hadn't even used the thing.
they make 10k per day, so they can afford to give away 10k per year.. (and as said pipes thats if the really give it away..) Peace.
They do the maths. The promo campaign will give them about 30k in revenue probably, so giving away 10k will still give them bigger profits than normal
Did they get hurt by the google penalties? If so, maybe this is their way of keeping webmasters faith in the directory business...
Let me fill u on a little secret. go to jurgle.com or jergle.com something like that, just do a whois lookup on them, its the place where there ip is located. They got like over 400 blogs each with links to their homepage. These blogs are on lindsay lohan, jennifer anniston and other famous stuff so each one of these blogs also acts as sort of a doorway page to best of the web. U land on the blog from the search engine, right there is the big banner for botw, u click it booom. there u go. If u can maintain 500 blogs, u can be the next botw.
For any business the prize has to be large enough to get enough people interested to make it a small investment into the success of the campaign. Often times if you go big but not big enough you don't get the response big enough does and therefor end up loosing on the competition. It's a gamble no doubt. Rob
those blogs are, really good, useful content in all the ones I looked at, not just filler like I see in many blogs, I imagine they pay a lot to staff writers for those blogs
It's peas and nuts to them. They still have that large PR on their site don't they? Anyhow, rumour has it that Google bought them for an undisclosed fee!
I don't understand how any directories can go forward since most of them cost money, and since we know that selling links on your website can kill your pagerank this whole thing just doesn't make sense.
Hehe, they are really one of the best. This contest will definitely bring them lots of money in terms of revenue. I read some where Matt & the SeoMoz guy recommending them.
This is simple marketing. And nothing can ensure that the 10K check will go to a random participant...
