I have read people saying that submitting articles will increase your link popularity. I am not sure how this can be done. You are not allowed to include any link in the articles that you submit to article websites. You can include your domain name but not a link in the body of the article. So the question is, for those who said that articles increase link popularity, how can this be done? Thanks
It's true that some directories prevent this but there are some that are more lenient - I don't have a complete list of just these type of sites to share or anything. Anyway, isn't a link in a resource box or an "About the author" area still considered a link - IMHO, it is.
Yes, submitting quality articles to article submission sites works. The link is in the author/resource box most of the time. Some sites let you add URLs in the main body, some don't but all the sites I've seen allow it in the resource box. These articles are placed on the sites then, if they're good, may be picked up and posted on other sites. If it's not a good article it may still gain backlinks from the sites you've submitted it to. Give it a shot, you'll see.
Some sites allow html links in both the article and resource box, others only allow you to enter the url (without anchor text), and yet other only allow links in the resource box. I actually have a list of directories and keep track of what type of links each directory allows, see it at http://www.articletrader.com/distribution/list/
