Catholics are against Capital Punishment since we believe only God has the right to call him for judgement.

The Human Body is rented to us by God. It belongs to him. This means by Killing another person, we are killing God.

Stox its clear headed answers like this that give me hope that one day human beings can learn how they are being manipulated and start to learn how to live in peace with each other and not allow themselves from being manipulated by their governments.

Your short answer just reiterated what most of the world thinks:)

blademaster: Ok let's say you are an atheist. Take off the God in the religion, and view it as a philosophy.

Everyone has his own philosophy, so consider it from that point of view.

King David's last words were to his son, telling him to go and kill an enemy of his.

The New Testament tells us to obey the law of the land, obey authority. The authority in many states right now points to the death penalty.

I only bring this up because I do not believe the Bible commands us to be against capital punishment. You state that you are for religious reasons. That's for you to say. But I read the same Bible you do and I don't definately get what you do.

I am for the death penalty in principle, but against it currently for it's misapplication. Fix the up, make it righteous, then hang 'em high ;)

Fact is I really don't enjoy it. I have joked that I do, but I really wish it never needed to be. I also wish 108 boys and girls from this great land of ours did not have to sacrifice their lives for a bunch of ungrateful, bigotted, hateful, murderous people either.

He's dead, the fucker, so be it - adios. Don't let the door hit you in your ass on your way to hell.

Enjoy it? No way. He's been the cause of so much brutal bloodshed, how can anyone enjoy anything about him. I'm just glad he's dead.

    ST12,

You're so right. But it's not a Christian thing. It's a human thing. There are too many greedy uncaring people out there. The compassion of humanity has disappeared.

As a Christian, I take no joy in the death of another. I do realize, however, that there are certain laws put into place to help society keep order.

In Romans 12:18 the text says, "If it is possible, as much as depends on you, live peaceably with all men."

Actually, the entire chapter underscores that Christians are not to return evil for evil, in fact we should help our enemies as that gesture could lead to their repentance.

Yes, but realizing that should not be the same as accepting it?
I think we accept to much in the society just because "it is like that".

You hit it right on the spot. This is the people that call themself christians of some reason, but does not follow the belief, they follow the belief only when it fits them. You have millions of this people, and many here at DP, I will not name them, but you see it in the discussions here.
Judging, judging, judging, they do that, its a clear sign of being a fake christian. And some of the people that are most busy judging others are the ones that are most busy telling everybody that they are christian, like they want to justify themself.

Yes very good point. I have never understood that about liberal and seculars how they could be for the killing of babies and against the killing of the baby killers.

Matt, i hate to see the killing of anyone. That being said i allready know that saddam is no angel. I even knew some people who served in his army who were tortured and had to split before they were killed because they didnt want to serve in the first gulf war.

IM not weeping because of that. Im weeping because of the hypocrisy behind it. IF you go through our history of covert operations in these 2nd and 3rd world countries you will see that our mission there was not to spread democracy and freedom but to destroy it and control the natural resources of these countries.

One main case in point that i keep harping is the cia coup which took massadegh of iran out and installed a puppet non democratically elected shah of iran in. The shah was one of the most brutal dictators in modern history and almost on the level of saddam. How come we dont put our leaders on trial for the destruction of iran as a peace loving society it was under mossadegh?

How come we dont hold any world leaders responsible for going to war in iraq based on a lie??????????? Like i said before , history is written by the victors and its up to us as peace loving people to pass the true history down to our children so that maybe one day god-willing we can break this chain (empires throughout history consolidating their power through the manipulation and suffering of third world countries).

During the first gulf war few people know that our government sacfriced lebanon to syria so that syria could be an ally of ours in the first gulf war against saddam. Dont believe me, look it up. Howcome we dont bring these leaders to trial??????

I say this not to put my country down, but to see the day when we can truely be a country that really stands for peace, freedom and democracy. These things dont come cheap, usually u must speak out against power to get these back. The true power brokers today have consolidated their power through manipulation and spreading of fear. Tell me whymust i wait till the year 2029 to know who murdered our ex-president? What do they have to hide by doing this?
