How Broad Can You Really Make A Blog?

I usually build websites as aposed to make blogs but i've just started my first proper blog. It's primarily aimed at giving SEO tips... and general internet talk on marketing, advertising etc etc
But I think it's also good to have some 'relax' posts... I have a category called 'babel' which ties in with the name and that's my sort of 'personal' category with, well... babel... just general posts about daily thoughts or news events etc

But how broad can you really make it... do you think it would be ok for me to have like... a celebrity section or film section and sort of expand it out to all these areas or do you think you should just stick, focus on one exact thing?

IMO: you can make your site as broad as you want, as long as everything is organized in categories, you should be fine :)

Create your niche is the most effective way to establish yourself and build a following. The more specific your focus, the quicker you'll succeed. Stick with SEO and perhaps some closely related topics. Venture too far off and you'll be offering a watered-down product to provide your readers. Hope that helps. :)

Yeah, that's definitely a valid point and I'd agree... somewhat.

I think you should maybe... stick to your niche whilst your establishing your blog and then once you get to a certain stage where you have hundreds / thousands of subscribers, I think it's ok to digress into other things then as you're already established and are offering your readers more topics.
