I am trying to learn things about blogging from fellow members at DP. I am trying to promote http://www.webcosmo.com I did some directory submission which I expect to give me good search engine ranking after 3 months or so. But that probably wont bring much traffic as blogging would.
I like to know the ways how can I use blogging to get traffic. How can I get blogger write about my site etc etc. Appreciate any suggestions.

You can pay to have blogs write about your site. Google will be dealing with that sooner or latter. I would just get your own blog and write about your site and what it offers.

This way you get links to your site and articles on your blog that people can read about it.

They use services that provide just that, the most popular being Reviewme. I can't link due to my post count, but it's reviewme dot com This can be good or bad, because it's still the bloggers opinion on your site or product, and most bloggers will disclose that it's a paid review, which will turn some of their visitors off on your site.

However, if you're really looking for links from high quality blogs, most are open to dealing directly with you and cutting out the middle man of a service which takes a cut off of what you pay in exchange for a link. It really depends on the target audience of your site and the bloggers that you would be interested in having a review written by.

Dropping an email to the blogger(s) in question or a few comments on blogs that you feel would be interested in your site never hurts either, it could help you out with getting a few links with positive vibes.

You need to find blogs which the blogger or target audience would be interested in your site. Also, from a strict marketing perspective, I would cease using the "new craigslist" tag. It's in your avatar, I'm not sure if you use it elsewhere, but all you're doing is advertising for craigslist. You need your site(s) to stand out on their own, not remind everyone of the competition.
