Bing can just follow same model as that of google by puting top ten results for top most searched keywords (say 10000 top keywords) manually , every month end , they can edit this top ten list , add / delete sites from the list. What does the DP seo experts think ?
The only way Bing can kill Google would be to raise enough money to buy 51% of Google's stock, then turn the power off to Google (literally).
It takes just few seconds for users to switch from Google to Bing. Currently Bing has nearly leveled up with the search algorithm of Google. Cope up Google is not big thing for Microsoft.
It's not just the algorithm but a lot to do with marketing as well. MS will have to market like hell. I don't think they'll make it though but time will tell.
Microsoft is really working hard to push Bing to the top. They have even integrated Bing in the latest iteration of Zune, the ZuneHD. Here's the link http://gizmodo.com/5334591/surprise-zune-hd-will-have-integrated-bing-search.
Or Microsoft could start selling off OS's and updating with bots installed. With those bots they DDoS all of google's servers 24/7 . (Joking, Microsoft, Do not attempt) But yeah, beating google is pretty much impossible, ESPECIALLY if you are Microsoft!
Very true. Problem is people knows Microsft as a giant software company and not as web portal (I know some people who still believes hotmail is owned by Shabbir Bhatia). MSFT will have to promote its online portal while making sure its software business is not affected by Google's Operating System. Google's Marissa Mayer says
Microsoft is a God at marketing. They are like McDonalds, you'd eat your own shit if they marketed well enough. Bing's alogorithim is so similar to Google's now, and in some cases, I'm confessing it's better. Bing is amazing, and the front page is ever-changing with a fancy picture and interesting. It's better. It's rather amazing really.
BING can do a contract with firefox and make thier default page as bing that will get some good amount of peoplle like me to start using bing
I don't really think how anyone can assume that Bing is going to suppress Google. Google have gone on the top which anyone behind will need lot of years to reach...and beside beating them...It's too hard.
Not only the technology but also the marketing and the reputation. No doubt microsoft is good in marketing but they need to spend money on both technology development and marketing, this is not mall money, they are more focus on the software market compare to internet market. Other than that, microsoft reputation is not as good as google, many people dont like microsoft due to their "monopoly" and the expenive windows software. Conclusion is microsoft need to do alot work and spend alot of money to take over google
I'm sure Google would have first dibs (and currently does) as the Mozilla team are the ones who coded Chrome .
Google has a name and people like its simplicity. THats why i switched from excite to google when it launched. A basic page loads fast and does a search. But now with the days of dial-up gone page load times are droped and bing may have a chance. They have a very nice setup but it will take me a little longer to remove the big G from my homepage. GoodLuck Microsoft.
I think main attraction google has or you can support is from open source community who dosent like MS a bit and google has almost 70% percent search market which is very different category even MS is giant in other categories... It will take some time not some i may correct lot of time even with correct algo and marketing.. Google interface starts with simplicity and empower with results with simplicity bing should concentrate on that rather cluttering things...
IMO If MS want to takeover the internet they can, well anyone can. Instead of setting up another like-product i.e. search engine. Create something NEW. All Google is is a trend, A trend that stays in front of everyone else. But a trend none the less. I think MS should be focusing on the "New" factor and not try to take on Google head to head.
The only possible way would be for Microsoft to update Windows with a script that would treat G as spyware or a virus and not allow it to run in their programs.
