41,000 people on an email list targetted about owning ferretts is a lot different than 41,000 people on a list about personal finance... :)

    numbers aren't everything.

I've probably got half a million people on all my lists but I don't really use them that often other than to get people coming back to the site.

right, and I don't even bother doing anything with them.

I pointed it out to emphasize that numbers are by no means the most important factor.

I have lists of a few thousand people that I'm sure would make me more than my huge combined lists that aren't targetted / have a lot of kids / are in bad niches / etc from various places.

We have about 100,000(which is a very small list) which has taken years to build up we use selectively for Newsletter but as they have been with us a long time we get a good ROI from the list

I built my subscriber by providing free quality content, (multimedia), then when they click to download, there's a place where they need to input their email address. By default, it will be save into the newsletter list. However, there's an option for them to opt out so as not to make it illegal.

Is there any FREE way to send emails to my list?
I have 5.000+ emails(my forums members) but the hotmail users recieve the mail in Junk when I send it from vbulletin`s control panal.

You have 500,000 and you don't bother doing anything with them?
If you're not using the list, I'll happily take it off your hands... :)

While numbers may not be important, they do go a long way towards
success. In a list that size, there's bound to be a small percentage
that will enjoy almost any site you direct them to, not to mention
you could easily segment the list with a few choice questionnaires
    or tracked links.

500,000 = $$$. At least in my eyes it does.

If any of you guys accept paid ads in your list, how do you market it? I'm interested because I'd love to find a place with a bunch of lists and information on how to advertise in them (i.e. how many subscribers, how much they cost, et cetera)

I got 400 (not million) that I built in two weeks. I send them short articles from time to time, and usually 1% of the recipients respond to my call and buys a clickbank product. I sometime end up with $100 for a single mail.
