One of my workmates has developed a puzzle game which he has now got stocked by Iwantoneofthose, Firebox, Play.com and Amazon.co.uk but has not done any marketing for it so far.

Obviously having it stocked by such large and well trusted online retailers is a start but he hopes to somehow create a buzz surrounding his product in time for the xmas rush.

The game is called Triball and can be found at Triball

How would you suggest he go about marketing his product on a pretty limited budget? Bearing in mind he wants to see results within 2 months what are the best ways to quickly create interest in his game?

Btw if you are interested his game is a 3D version of nought and crosses for 3 players and cost less than a tenner...i think

There are plenty of things that he can do:

Market to groups on Myspace - those intererested in games and gifts.
Write about the game on Squidoo
Film himself playing the game and out the information on You Tube
Join forums that are related to games and market it in the signature.
Write articles about the game - linking to where they can get it.
Market the product offline - ask if you can set up a stall in a local shopping centre.
Create flyers about the game and deliver them door to door.

All these will be pretty cheap ways of promoting it.

Sending review models to influential bloggers is a great way to get some cheap publicity. Look for blogs that you think will have the sort of readers that would interested in the game and contact them to see if they want to do a review.
