I'm posting to blogs/forums that are related to my site with links to my site in the post. You have to do this in a way that actually contributes to the discussion though, it can't just be a 'hey guys check out my site' kind of thing.

For instance, if the discussion is about the dodge ram or dodge challenger I will probably post an image of that vehicle from my site, as well as link to my ram/challenger page.

I don't really understand how writing for a place like ezine helps you that much. If you write an article for them and backlink to your site why would the reader follow it? The information is right there. You're just providing a lot of free content to places like ezine just for a few backlinks. Are they really worth that much?

I guess he wasn't talking about EZA. Useful sites get free backlinks. Period. People write about them, link to them... for free.

I used to do a lot of SEO, but it's getting more competitive. I do write articles, etc because it's a great extension of my site. If people want to learn more, they'll visit my website and I can provide them with my ads.

I try to get traffic from Search Engines. Other sources include, article directories, forum signatures. But compared to SEs, these sources send very little traffic.

I don't really have adsense sites, I have blogs that have adsense on them. In that respect I'm not really doing anything to promote them besides writing posts, commenting on other blogs etc.

I let Google, StumbleUpon and Technorati send me traffic most of the time. If an affiliate steps up with an extreme offer I'll turn on some cpc advertising to that offer but thats rare.

I get the organic traffic mainly from the serach engines.

You can also get traffic by posting in the relevant blogs and the forums.

Write articles with link of your website in the resource box and submit to the top articles directories
    http://ezinearticles.com
    http://www.goarticles.com
    http://www.articledashboard.com

Submitting articles in these directories will help you in building back links and also increase the traffic to your site.

    Regards

You're right. Don't write a long thorough article...

The key is to write about 350 words tops...and only talk in general terms. Then direct the user to go to your website for more information in the resource box.

I just provide my blogs with informative and unique articles. In this way, my blogs are getting traffic from organic searches and may lead to click my ads.

    Writing for article directories provides:

    a) a backlink
    b) opportunity for someone to actually click on the link after reading the article
    c) opportunity for someone to copy and paste your article, complete with bio/resource box onto their website, which again allows a) and b) above to be repeated, but on their site too.

    :)
