Been seeing a lot of finance, fintech and forex startups struggle to get any real media pickup lately — most journalists ignore cold pitches, and generic PR distribution feels like shouting into a void. Curious what's actually working for people here: Are you using PR distribution services, or going direct to journalists? Anyone had luck getting picked up by finance-focused outlets specifically? Is a financial press release still worth it for brand credibility, or is it mostly noise at this point? Would love to hear what's actually moved the needle for your brand — good or bad experiences welcome.
PR for financial and forex brands relies on GEO and compliance-first narrative architecture. Because traditional paid search and social are heavily restricted, agencies use third-party endorsements to build trust and feed AI search models, moving beyond standard press releases.
I think this is pretty close to what I’m seeing too, but I’d add that a lot of brands still underestimate the value of having a real story behind the coverage. We’ve tried both press releases and direct outreach, and the generic “company announces X” type releases usually don’t do much unless there’s already a strong brand behind them. What seems to work better is getting mentioned in niche finance sites, industry blogs, interviews, podcasts, etc. — places where the audience already trusts the source. For fintech especially, credibility matters more than just getting a bunch of links or logos on a “featured in” page. The hardest part is finding journalists who actually cover the space and understand the compliance limitations. Random PR blasts are mostly wasted budget from what I’ve seen.
