How are they getting away with so many ad units?

I was looking at how Ezine Articles dot com uses adsense.

I can't figure out how they get away with the number of
    ad units they use.

Click on any of their articles and you'll see what I mean.

They have a rectangle ad unit under the title for the
article. Then next to the articles, I think they are
stacking 2 more rectangles or squares, to get 8
    ads displayed.

Then beneath the article, they have a skyscraper
ad and finally they have a Google image ad at the
    bottom.

By my count, that's 5 content ad units.

They also use 2 Google Search boxes and 3 Google
link units (those are all ok, per adsense guidelines.)

How do they get to do this? Is there a trick I'm missing?

Thanks, in advance, for any guidance or replies.

They are premium adsense publishers and have special perks in putting up ad units.

Yes, when you really have a lot of traffic, adsense contact you and you become an adsense premium account and you play by different rules, they actually help you make even more money by doing things normal publishers are not allowed to do.
