how are the page impressions counted?

I wanted to know how the page impressions are counted, are these the number of pageviews with adsense adverts or number ads shown.

For example, if I have 1 pageview with 3 adsense cd's on the page, how will this be shown as 1 page impression or 3.

in your case,

one pageview = 1 page impression.

one pageview = 3 ad impression

 

Based on my exp it looks 1 page view = 1 impression
(I have one ad-block per page)

 

I would say 1:1, pageview to impression.
