How are paragraphs of user-inputted text saved?

How do text publishing systems work? For example, a blog. A user submits a body of text in a form. How is the text usually saved? Is it saved into a text file on the server? I know how databasing works, but this doesn't seem reasonable for saving paragraphs.

Thanks, I am curious to know.

Database row, typically with a column with the "blob" datatype.

Thanks for clearing that up, I wasn't aware of this data type until now.
