How are link unit clicks counted?

I'm wondering how link unit clicks and pageviews are tracked. I'm assuming when someone loads a page with a link unit on it, it counts as a page view, right? Then if they click on it, is that a click? If so, would it be a click with any value? I'm guessing not. If this person then clicks on several ads in the list that appears after clicking the link unit, would I get paid for each of those? Would viewing the list of ads count as another page view for me?

Doesn't really matter I guess, I'm just curious.

    Thanks!
    Gary

"I'm assuming when someone loads a page with a link unit on it, it counts as a page view, right?"

    Yes.

"Then if they click on it, is that a click?"

    No.

"If this person then clicks on several ads in the list that appears after clicking the link unit, would I get paid for each of those?"

Yes, if they are valid clicks. I.E. Not determined to be fraudlent (however that is determined).

"Would viewing the list of ads count as another page view for me?"

No idea. But those types of views should be low compared to impressions for the link unit, so I do not think they would impact impressions much one way or another.

I was always under the impression that you can click your own Link Unit to open up the ad list, but if you click the actual ads on that ad list, then that would be considered clicking your own ads.

I was also under the impression that when a visitor clicks on multiple ads from that list, you get a click for each one that the visitor clicks on.

Well, I've only done it a couple of times to see what ads show up, but I don't think it counts as a click anyway. It's when you click the ads themselves that it becomes an issue. I hope I'm right about this. *worried*

1st click doesn't count. Only the second one does.

Only the clicks on the actual page that displays the list of ads counts. You are free to click on the link unit to see what ads are shown, but NOT to click the ads

Thanks for all the replies. I've heard as well that you can click on the link unit to pull up the list of ads without incurring GoogleWrath, but I'm far too paranoid to do so. :)
