I assume that a large part of the free directory listing process is automated. About a year and half ago, I had a submission service submit to 400 or so directories. I've recently changed my domain, but the site is essentially the same. Should I simply resubmit my site or go through the task of attempting to contact each directory owner. I'm concerned that if I choose the latter, many of my emails will go unanswered. Suggestions?
If your domain expired and/or is not "live" then they should be smart enough to catch it when they do thier monthly validation checks you could try to contact them but since they are free i would suggest that you just resubmit to more directories to get the new domain links... I think you could always forward your old domain to the new one then i suppose it wouldnt matter since its going to the same site but different domain thx malcolm
This is the case now, but from what I've heard those links count towards the old domain. Since I've changed domains, it's in my best interest SEO wise to build (or update) links to the new site. I had some serious rankings, so following best practices when it comes to domain changes to retain those rankings. Been a few days and some of the rankings have transferred. Trying to do everything I can to keep that going. Thanks for your input.
