I have seen many discussions in many forums about how having Adsense in a site works or fails to work. I have been earning from Adsense for over an year now and I can surely say that if your site is well ranked in Google and has good traffic, then money will start flowing in. What really matters is for one to go into a niche that is not over dominated and give content. Google are very strict when it comes to search engine ranking so QUALITY CONTENT is what will make your website come at the top of the search page results. No one should ever think that Google can be fooled. To play it safe, follow Google rules ans work hard to write the content. Yes adsense works on established (purchased) domains and on free blogger sites as well - I have earned money with adsense too. It isn't the fastest way to earn money but what you want is traffic to your site for whatever it is you are selling...most times you are not just wanting to earn from google adsense ads.
I've been running google adsense on my forum communities (3 of them), although it's a small niche, it continues to grow with better discussions being posted (google indexed them very well). Also google adsense is doing really good with targeting the right ads for my audience. As long as the community is active with relevant topics (even some off topic news discussions), it seems to work well. The only hard part (for me) on the forum community is getting a good amount of people to keep the site going even without you paying attention so much.
I make over a thousand $$$ from all my three sites monthly from Adsense. I also make a reasonable amount with the products I promote. Good CONTENT is the key to earning from Adsense.combined with good traffic of course.
If you have knowledge of some particular topic sit down and jot down those points and then decide step by step how you can make articles out of those topics. The topic about adsense does not end with how to make money with adsense but it could also move into how to improve adsense or how to get adsense account.Make the content rich enough that it pays you lots of visitors and cash in turn.

Remove easily from your thoughts. It takes a lot of work and day in and day out trial and error. The best thing to do is focus on traffic.
I get 75% of traffic coming from SEs and therefore SEO plays a vital part in my earnings. I implement all the link building strategies,promote my site through social media outlets to ensure my site ranks well in SERP.
