I'm not going to say it is impossible but I highly doubt Google will get beat out anytime soon.
Yes MS does have a lot of money and great minds, but so does Google. They are not stupid to what MS and Yahoo are doing. I am certain they have many plans for the future and dealing with MS-Yahoo is sure to be one of them. There is no way they will stand still and wait to be overtaken.

One thing is for sure, it will be interesting to watch it all unfold.

    my 2 cents

No it can NOT, at least not within the next few years :)

MS have done a great job on BING, but it's still way behind Google.

I don't think Google will be defeated by Bing anytime soon. But Bing is certainly on a good track to long term success.

Highly unlikely in the foreseeable future. Google is just too tough of an opponent.

I dont think Bing can defeat google at this moment, Bing search is still far behind from google.
Google kingdom is too strong, Bing can not defeat google at least in this 5 years time

I remember the day when many people were willing to pay yahoo $200+ to get their site in the directory. And paying the money only promised a fast review(2 weeks), had nothing to do with actually being accepted because they would still deny you if you did not meet their strict guidelines.

Now, I dont think they would get $1. Times change, it may take 5 years, or another advertising bubble to burst and it will change.

Google is loosing focus. People will always "google" it..... but Bing is a great service. I use Bing first, and sometimes it doesnt give me a result, then I use Google. Google is great and in the number one position, but they are also branching off into other avenues and Bing has had great reviews. Google will be dominate for some time to come, but Bing has been making all the right moves since it has launched

A start would be to win over Mozilla, throw internet explorer out, use firefox on all new microsoft operating systems and mozilla agrees to change default staritng page to use bing instead of google. That would have a major effect.

I totally agree with C0rrup! Internet explorer needs to be gotten rid of...

It's one thing for microsoft to say they'll provide a fairer way of searching and ranking on the internet but they have failed so long in providing a good decent working way to display it.

If microsoft bought out firefox and supplied it with every new pc then yes i'd probably use bing a lot more

I dont think bing can defeat google. Bing gives too much importance to domain name and not content. I have seen dummy pages on front page of bing for major search terms like "maths tutor"

Ya, Bing is way behind from Google !
It will take more than 5 years to beat Google. Even then they won't be able to beat it. :D
    As, Google is Google !

Bing is colorful and much more fun to use than Google. I think Google should add a little bit of style to it's site instead of the ''grandma'' look-alike Google web pages we're use to.

The only thing bing has going for it is it's advertisements ... other than that, it's just a rebranded msn as far as I'm concerned.

Lol, yeah, I'm on the bandwagon with most people, I don't think Bing stands much of a chance against Google.

Bing has got excellent features. However it lacks in most important thing that is the quality of SERPs. G still rules in quality of SERPs.
