How am I getting lots of blog comments.. but very little website views?

For some reason I get like 30 or so blog comments a day but yet only one or two website hits registered with my stats plugin on wordpress.. How is this?? The comments are usually pretty generic.. but their websites arent in the comments so I dont think its "spam" but idk.. can anyone fill me in? Thanks

 

Most likely they are from robots who scan the web for wordpress websites and auto post duplicate messages. You should use Akismet to prevent your blog from spam comments. Akismet comes with every wordpress installation so you just need to activate and configure it.

 

Sounds like spam or fishing for trackbacks.

Probably like what is stated above, spamming robots. Try enabling your Akismit Plug-in to prevent this from happening in the future.

 

Yeah, even I was having the problem till I got the Akismit Plug-in.

 

Install Growmap plugin, type "growmap" in plugin search box, the problem will be solved :-D

I use Akismet and Growmap, it works awesome, try it, you will have 0 spams!

 

the ground rule is to have akismet installed also there are few robot redirect plugins like replytocomm redirector.

Yup, sounds like bots - try a captcha plugin.

 

comment spam I myself has 400 comments to approve. Can i delete this one using a plugin "delete all"

 

Do i need to pay for Akismet? Because in my blog it says "please enter your Akismet API key" and when i go to akismet looks like i need to pay any idea?

 

does akismet automatically activate or do you need to activate it with each install? I know it gets installed by default...

 

Its installed by default you just need to actiavte it from your wordpress admin--> Plugins
