How accurate is the visitor location?

How accurate is the map in analytics that shows where in the world your visitors are from?

 

Its very accurate for me but just that some countries is not getting listed its showing as NOT SET. But otherwise everything works great.

Well with geo-tracking on ip addresses it should be about as accurate as could be. I suppose it may be fooled if people are using anonymous browsers and the likes, but from what I have seen in my own results it would seem to be pretty good.

 

It's as accurate as your visitors are honest.

 

Not sure. I found sometimes it would mistake people from one country with those from neighbourhood.

 

I live in the north of England and have noticed that it says visitors in my area are in London.

Its accurate to a point. Like, when your in certain places it says the server location. So, for example, it will get the country right, but sometimes it says you came from a place almost 4 hours away.. So, its accurate to a point, and when country is not set, then you really don't know..

My visitor location is pretty accurate and I have to say I can't complain with it.

 

I have mixed feeling about this. Some times I feel like its right on and oters I dont. In other words I am just not sure. I would love to hear what others think though.

 

It absolutely works fine.

 

Yeah its accuracy is also dependent on the integrity of what the end user is reporting.
