Hello, i have a little problem or better said a dilemma. I used google adwords keyword tool to find out how many local searches per month a keyword has. From there i find out that the keyword has about 90.000 monthly searches. That would be something like 90:000 : 30(days) = 3000 searches/day. Good, everything seems fine until here, at least for me. I searched for that keyword on google and took the first three websites that shows in google for the desired keyword. None of them has more than 1500 UV/day and the best part is that a percentage less then 30% comes searching for that keyword i was telling you. So, google adwords keyword tool in not at all accurate or my calculations are wrong? I would really appreciate a response, thank you all.
How did you know that? Are you sure the searches is exact searches per month and not broad nor phrase?
Well, when i search for that keyword on google adwords keyword tool i always stick to the Only show ideas closely related to my search terms and i select my country and my natal language and under the column Local Monthly Searches it shows me 90.000 searches/month, so 95% I am sure that this is the exact number of searches per month. To check their stats i use a analytics tool installed on their site which is 90% accurate because i used in the past too.
i use adwords to find the keywords links of london traffic, the finding is similiar to yours. pittful
Google's tool is for Adwords advertisers, so in addition to the search network it's adding the content network data as well. And there's a lot of keyword research tools that skews the search results as well. Here's a breakdown of the traffic you might expect from a 1st page ranking (scroll about a 3rd of the way down the page). Generally of course. http://training.seobook.com/google-ranking-value
hhmm, i feel same,.now, google keyword tools update not achieve great search (that i feel). The volume decrease than was. Maybe there is can explain, what is the difference google sktool and google keyword tool?
Any keyword tool for that matter can never be exact, there are so many variants affecting search, including seasonal changes or sudden increase in that particular keyword in a particular day due to certain news item or magazine article (offline) and this might happen every month during few days, but google tool would show it spread over a month, now it is just impossible to say search numbers can be same every day, so whenever you are developing a website it is better for you to research other websites in the same niche (those on first 3 spots on google) and see what is going on with them, how many backlinks, check the traffic stats (with third party data providers, you might have to pay for some, but worth it) and then build the website, dont just believe in any keywords tool, take those results with a pinch of salt.
Who are you trying to fool? I will give you an example and open your eyes so you can understand why keyword tools are so important. Google competition is what most of us rely on, the lower the competition is easier it is to rank on the first page period! Second Google Trends in my opinion is very reliable and shows graph related results over the months to see how popular a keyword is over a period of time, for me it is a great way to monitor keywords and this way you can target the keywords that have low competition and high search trends. By concentrating on this you will get the results you need without wasting money on backlinks and other promises!
I can share my experience with some phrase that I have as a keyword in my page. So it is a very small site, very small traffic, but the point is that when I checked local searches (in Google Adwords) and that how many visitors I had in a month (in my page statistics) those figures were almost equal, that was recently. Before I also thought that those data of Google Adwords are not precise, but I had a great example when those figures very almost 100% equal. I am in the first place with that specific KW in Google (in my country) and that why for me it looked pretty convincing and one last point is that it is not a commercial project and there even are not paid ads in this sphere, so I also think that those Google Adwords data are not so closely related just with ads!
Google keyword tool is suspicious, who are those people who make those searches, it could be webmasters trying to find their next niche, so I think it's a bit overrated.
You rank for that keyword and then, lesser competition no way gets you better results, if it is about making money then there are keywords with lesser competition and lesser monthly search volume but the CPC (for that keyword) is so high the competition is just too much to crack into. Nobody is trying to fool here, just that one needs to do their own research and find their own ways to do things, their is no set system which any tool can point you to go and which you think will be the right way to go, u will find it when you reach their whether that tool was right or wrong! You are seriously joking, "only keyword tool is required to get results" (yes, for the one selling the keyword tools it is true not for those using them), "backlinks are all fools promises", huh, that is news to me and all the best.
Never rely on one specific tool 100%, there are a lot of good tools for your to use, but never rely 100% You can also piggyback what your competitors are doing and what keywords they are targeting but again never rely 100% on this too. Here are good tools for you to use..If you like them of course. http://www.keywordspy.com/ http://www.marketsamurai.com/ http://www.spyfu.com/
