It looks extremely useful on the service, but I'm currently ranking 3rd for a keyword with 22,500 local monthly searches & accordingly to Google Analytics only 148 visits last month originated from this particular search.

A CTR of 0.65% can't be right for the 3rd result, can it?

It's pretty accurate, but it doesn't guarantee the number of click-throughs. That's going to depend on how well you write your page titles, META descriptions and page content (in case Google uses a content snippet instead of the META description tag). It can also use a description from DMOZ if that's available as well.

    I also wondered about this.

The tool suggest that my keyword have 50,000 searches globally, so I put an adwords campaign up for this keyword - expecting to have 1,600 impression per day for 1st page ads.

But I only got like 20 impressions per day for 1st page ads. This means 20 search/day = ~600searches/month.

I then tried on other keyword tools and most of them suggest that I can only expect 600-900searches/month.

My friends have this problem also, so I won't believe google's keyword tools much.
My guess for google's number is that they include results from content networks also.

May be I understand something wrong, let me know if it is the case though.

It's hard to say how accurate the tool is. This because I have tried a lot with some kws, some work but some didn't but not many of kw that the info from Adwords tool is not accurate. You perhaps need to have another kw tool to double check.

I've found it to be incredibly accurate when set to "exact."

    Hi,
It's pretty accurate, but it doesn't guarantee the number of clicks though.
Try this www.seospidermonkey.com. for searching keywords.
    Thanks.
