How accurate is Overture?

After checking Yahoo! over the weekend I'm now ranking 4th for my keyword.

According to Overture (which to my knowledge monitors Yahoo! search) the keyword gets 3,700 searches a day.

I don't however seem to be getting any more traffic than normal.

Is there an explanation for this...

    Dave.

If you are using the Overture Keyword Selector Tool, it reports the total number of searches for the entire previous month.

It could also be that your title tag or text that is displaying lacks the proper marketing pizzazz. You need to give a user a compelling reason to click on your link, rather than one of the other nine on a search results page.

Im using the digital point tool and on the overture side it clearly says 3,700 per day, or is this wrong, is it still per month?

Also i have thought about a crap heading, but, with 4k searches a day i should at least get 10-15 clicks.

    Thanks

    Dave

    no, its not daily.
If you see 3700 in overure keyword tool for your keyword, that is 3700 searches per month, so assume some 123 searches per day.

Also , from what I know ,the number of searches that Overture reports, is the number of searches that are made in a month , in the Yahoo network, right?

I'm not using the overture tool........

I'm using the digital point tool. Which clearly states searches per DAY.

Sure but isn't 120k searches a bit high to be that wrong?

Even if it was only really 25% right it would still mean 1k searches a day for my phrase...

If a 120,000 search keyword results in no hits then a smaller say 50,000 keyword would be even more out of sync.

For me this situation pretty much confirms these tools as utterly useless.

If you have a keyword that big, how much searches does wordtracker show you?

have you checked search volumes in other tools like wordtracker or google adwords or even google trends? you'll never get the number shown in overture or you have to fill top 100 places with your sites. pm your keyword and i'll try to predict aproximate number of visits:)
