How accurate is awstats?

    I use awstats as a tracker on one of my domains and it gives and outrageous Add To Favorites percentage. I was just wondering how accurate this statistic really is.

    It isn't. Adding a page to the favourites is purely client side activity the server has no possible way of knowing about.

    So how do they give any stats at all? Base it on returning visitors?

    They're probably guessing that N percentage of no-referer traffic is type-in and N percentage is bookmarks. Very silly practice of course.
