I was just wondering what is the deal with Alexa. I have 2 sites that are the same age and one of them gets 100-150 UV's a day and the other gets 200-300 aday. The 100-150 site has a ranking of roughly 900,000 and the other is above 3,000,000. Could there be a reason why or are they not that accurate?
Alexa is not accurate. Just like you my friend i started a thread about how does alexa track websites. Then My DP friends here told that it tracks websites through its toolbar. Do you think tracking websites using a toolbar is good thing? I say no , dont rely on Alexa Ranking of Website.
Alexa ranking is based on the number of visitors to a site by those with the Alexa toolbar installed. As with any statistical analysis, the accuracy of the outcome decreases with decreasing sample numver (i.e. number of visitors to the website). That's why it gives better results for more popular websites
hello if you know how to increase alexa traffic in our website.I have web design site and i am optimization last 3 week but not a any good result only my website some pages index and you remind me our website dynamic so you tell me how to increase all keyword and traffic.our website only 35 page so not a any effect very shot site tell me.
The main problem with Alexa is its rankings are based on users who have installed the Alexa toolbar onto their browser. If you do not have the toolbar running, you do not affect the rankings of the sites you visit. The next big problem with Alexa is it is very easy to cheat the system. Just get a few friends to install the toolbar and have them surf your site everyday. It does not take many people to break into the top 100,000. You can even do it all by yourself by refreshing your site over and over again. Get a dozen friends to do it and you’re break into top 20,000 easily.
Alexa ranking is definitely not accurate! My blog - www.KidTechGuru.blogspot.com get more than 600 hits a day but my 1 week alexa rank hovers at around 700,000...but on the other hand, my 3 month rank is 131,000...that's crazy!
Thank you all for your input. I didnt know users had to have the toolbar. I guess that explains it. Thanks again everyone.
Yes, it's all about the toolbar. There are still some easy, white-hat ways to boost your Alexa rank, though.
