I've been thinking about it for a while, they only thing stopping me is the amount of work it is. I'm a coder so I can mostly write the articles myself. Once that is done, I'd like to probably sell icons, custom designs and more... Do you think this could work well? I often ask myself what's the point when it's been done before.
Yeah its waste of time. Instead try something new such as write some article then sell it to other people from here you can earn a living.
there are too many tutorial sites around. Its not that it can't be done, but you will need to offer something different/better than whats around. I would recommend you go for it if you feel that what you're offering is worth reading! =)
I'm not a big fan of writing long articles. I could create a website to help people better code but aimed towards coding newbies. Such as providing scripts, tools, templates, help on how to fix html/css/javascript validation errors, accessibility, standards, seo and such.
I think it is a good niche and it doesn't matter if there are many because what is about is quality. I feel people on that interest will search and hand around also post your name. I cheer you up!
If you do it, you have the right idea with setting up backend products to sell to the people coming to your site. People like to learn, but like having things done for them even more and will pay for it. You can teach a man to fish but he will still gladly pay you to do the fishing for him.
Can you give us the URL? It seems this is an old post and you may have already implemented this project.
If you have an idea try it. There are two things which will more often happened. Either you succeed or fail. After all failure leads to perfection
