Based on your questions, I would suggest you think about creating some other type of site. Like any good business model, you need to do research and create a plan. Asking others to hand that to you on a silver platter is not a recipe for success.
Thanks for you suggestions. Its difficult as WallaceYeung said for any online business and surely nobody shares his secret of success in an open forum. But If my directory fails I mean what are the most common reasons for failure despite too much efforts, good budgeting ,etc?
I didn't mention them and not even want to compare my skills with them its simply waste of my time. but a comparison why most startups in web directory business fails.
Most startups in any business online or offline fail, i thinks thats fairly standard around the world. Its pretty much an understanding that it happens and is accepted. You need to look to yourself, one other way you could avoid a lot of hassle and wasted time for yourself is to spend at least a few days reading through the threads in this section, i mean going pages deep into it. There are so many answers here, read the past battles bwtween people here, read how problems came about, what has changed in the directory business, im guessing that your not aware of any of this. Im not exagerating, theres so much info in this section its very useful to you, you just need to be willing to read it, and it gives you the freedom to make your own mind up on how to approach it. You just need to be willing to read, grab yourself a drink, sit down, get settled and start reading. I dont understand why some people are not willing to do this.

If you are doing a niche directory, study the others covering that topic and look for a new angle and offer something different. Decide what you want to be - the biggest and most complete photography directory, a somewhat juried art photography directory or only photography studios with a brick and mortar address. The ideas are endless if you take stock of what things photographers talk about as being important in their industry and advertising. Build on what others had done well and create something new and you will have a much better chance of success.
