Rounded shapes give a better impression, people consider them modern. However, it may change Internet is always changing!
Hi all! Could you show me some exemples? What are the most cool sites you know? I found one I really like. How about this? http://www.problemplayground.com/
You a Honda employee Templater? You keep posting links for them...hmmm The only kind of round website I can see working is a very simple email capture form; you can't add much content to round sites without a lot of cut up images in a table structure, the whole thing's a pain and like someone said, a waste of space!
Stuart, I like to use rounded layouts, but you will never find one single table tag in my codes. My layouts are always tabless (if you work with SEO you it's important), they use only CSS. I have proved myself that tables are 100% unnecessary. Everything that people do with tables I do with div tags. Also I don't use a lot of cut up images... you just have to find the right way to build a clean and modern layout. William de Souza
Rounded corners are overused recently. They're part of that Web 2.0 style.. People should be more imaginative indeed. Making rounded corners is really easy in CSS3 and Webkit-based browsers - Firefox, Safari, Chrome. Just 2 more css statements.
Tables don't harm SEO at all willrs, they're just a nightmare to handle if you use too many rows and coulombs. When making elaborate designs like a rounded site they just help a lot, see wassonline.com, I gave the site rounded edges and used DIVs for the rest of the content within the main tabeles.
why don't we have websites that go in three dimensions like the new apple systems are rumored to come out with, where your desktop can go inwards as well as up and down and side to side But there are plenty of round websites out there by the way: Hej fran USA, jag bor i houston och ar svensk!
Take a look at hxxp://script.aculo.us/ and how they do "round" websites with Javascript. I suppose another method would be to use Flash. I have seen some concept designs for websites, like a music group using a round object like a record or CD as their "shape" for their website. But other than that it doesn't seem like round or triangle or any other strange shapes are that common. But I think you can certainly create something with CSS, Javascript, or Flash. It shouldn't be that difficult if a particular shape is your entire design goal.
