Hi Admin Just a suggestion ... the adsense block displayed in this forum is right at the top and users usually focus towards the center of the page which has all the topics and posts ... I would suggest .. now that google allows multiple adsense blocks .. why not have one more block right above the topics ... I tried it at my forum and it works pretty well ... example page : adsense block in silchar dot com It requires a small change in the forum source code.
Must be a coincidence that you make this suggestion exactly in your 50th post, i.e. the hurdle after which you can potentially make small bits of money here Not picking on you man, just pointing out that I noticed Ajeet
That forum looks like $#!T because of all the ads.. I think Shawn isn't too worried about the money generated from this forum to ruin the viewing experience for his visitors.
But he's now in a position to benefit from more ad exposure I think keeping the landscape clean here is good, the ad at the top is very tidy. I do however sometimes miss the ads completely because my head is burried so far down the page. I think that user experience comes first over ad exposure... that's if you want quality viewers. Having said that, maybe an ad footer of the same size as the ad header? Any comments pro or con for that?
the $#!T part is the ad block on the left ... not the ad block above the messages ... i purposefully made the ad block on the left look like that just yday ... its basically to make the ads stand out for a day or two and it will move back to the original mild color. My site has a steady regular set of users ... and very few non-regular ones. So the idea is to keep changing the colors so that they are reminded of the presence of the ads. As for aesthetics, having multiple ad blocks doesnot mean a $#!T looking page Check the adblock just below the topic in that page.. its aesthetically pretty good !
Ok, I agree with that. I was in a sour mood when I looked at your forum, so forgive me if I was insulting. Anyway - I agree Shawn could make more money off the forum, (and more for the posters) but in reality, I think he'd be better served providing a quality service without ads. (and im assuming he feels the same.) Maybe he will shed some light on this when he gets back from Russia.
