There was a huge .mobi SEDO auction that showed how this is not an extension that should be brushed aside. As with anything else - if you have a premium .mobi or noticed one that's available, go for it...otherwise, don't bother.
.mobi appears to be falling apart... 2 years after landrush (.mobi's had to be registered for 2 years) a massive amount of domainers let almost all their .mobi's go! Why? Because unlike when the tld was first thought up (2002-2003) and launched (2006) people are starting to realize that we don't need a separate mobile domain extension thanks to really powerful mobile web browsing technology helping us view regular web content on our mobiles (you can thank the apple iphone for sparking this breakthrough). Google for "Google mobile" and you'll go to google.com/mobile not google.mobi, facebook uses m.facebook.com not facebook.mobi... I guess what I'm saying is why would people want to brand a 2nd version of their website for mobile users when they can keep branding their .com site and easily detect a mobile browser and forward them to a mobile optimized sub-domain.
If you buy .mobi as an investment, it is worthy . .Mobi is not popular nowaday . You have good chance to grab the short dictionary word as domain. Good luck.
Yea..there are many promotions for .mobi..many registrars give the MOBI site builder free with ever .mobi Domain name.. I guess the registry gives it free with the Domain.. not sure though
i had this same question, i know both these extensions arent too popular but would you rather have a: .mobi, .cc, or .me ? i kind of like the .me since its only 2 letters and is a word but not sure what other people would rather type
