Hi Just a suggestion >> Why not put a chat room here in the forum. I think that would be a great thing. After all, its a well established forum.
He wants a CHAT ROOM, not a general chat forum. Chat room as in members log in and can start chatting at once. Yes, I think it would be a good thing to have here. A better way to interact, meet with, and exchange ideas with members.
the forum is a live chat room. start a thread and people reply almost immediately. what else do ya need?
I am pretty sure it has been nixed multiple times. http://forums.digitalpoint.com/showthread.php?t=89743&highlight=chat+room
That's funny, man! My wife was attacked by a brown booby (no joke) a few weeks ago. It bit me when I went to throw it off of the boat.
That's crazy. I've been out a few times when pelicans attacked the boat (lookin' for a free meal), but never been bitten by one or anything. They usually just bombard around the boat lookin' for whatever fish you've caught.
This booby just F'd up and didn't fly high enough. He crashed right into my wife's lap. This was after she had thrown up six times and had been stung by jellyfish. Best day ever!!!
your poor wife! She is supposed to be in the spas on vacation..not out being stung and attacked by rabid birds. Geesh throwing up, from sea sickness or the jellyfish? I thank god one of those have never gotten me.
IMO a chatroom would only decrease actual posts while contributing no long-term content. I like this place just as it is ;-)
I have seen chat room's doing good in some established forums such as namepros. Members mostly chat about webmaster issue's and get quick answers for some problems as well as buy, sell or trade stuff live. Not all chat rooms are A/S/L as you think !
Apart from bandwidth and spam...a chatroom will only probably make DP more addicting (assuming everything goes really well and nobody spams and these chats are actually really helpful)...which really isn't a very good idea IMO Imagine DP becoming the webmaster's myspace ....
does digitalpoint have livechat? if not what if we would share our instant messenger contant mails here. so we can share our experiences or tips with others mine: davor.molnar@siol.net (msn) i'm also on irc on EFNET,Quakenet,Oink,Freenode Thats all
The idea is good ... but there are just far too many people in this forum to share with your msn, imagine having 1000 dp contacts .. and thats a small portion. anyway .. good luck .. hope things work out for you.
