    Hello mods,
How about a sticky thread in Web Hosting section with just offers from various web hosting providers (on their own) in their own post which can be edited from time to time by the providers? This will eliminate the buyer to going through all the pages of the forum to find the seller of their choice. Also the service providers will also refrain from bumping their existing threads with the sole idea to have their offers on homepage.

    Service provider may include :
    • Web Hosting Plans
    • FAQ
    • Order / Website Link
    • Reviews and link to one of their existing thread where they would be providing any updates / notifications / support (for their existing clients) and so on. This would be like a reviews thread and be linking from parent thread.

@Others: Please do vote in above poll. Thanks.

I don't see why Web Hosts can't edit their own topics and have their topics bumped the legitimate way like everyone else, by consumers asking questions. I can see a few problems with having a sticky for Web Hosts to post offers:

    1) Topics on the first page and at the top of the topic pages will naturally gain an unfaur advantage over the others in the topic.
    2) It would become a nightmare for the mods to look after. Their job is already hard enough, but when they have to start focusing their attention on one topic as opposed to a forum of topics, that just makes things worse!
    3) Edits are disabled after 8 hours (I think) of the original post being made, so Web Hosts would end up having to keep posting nonsense instead of editing their topic.

No doubt, I could probably go on all day and i'm sure one of the mods will add some more to my list. Not sure this will work out.

    Sorry bud.

If the edit is mandatory for the host, they could always get assistance from mods. Regarding your questions,
    1) You got a point here but it is always better than hosts trying to promote their host by spamming to get to first place in thread listing on page1.
    2) We will be having just one post per host in that thread. If they spam, they are inviting infractions / ban.
    3) The first post could have a detailed set of rules for that thread and not more than 1 post per host (not user) be a standard rule here. If they need to edit something, ask mods to do it like how we do it now.

    Thanks for voting :)

There's certain duration till you can edit the thread
but then changing/editing the thread all the time is not safe IMO.

I've seen hosting providers saying one thing at first and denying when there're troubles or in tight situation.
If they're given unlimited editing capability, they can simply edit their original post and say "we've never said it, etc..."

As long as there're those "bad apples", its better to go with what's best as whole.
just my 2 cents, but I do like your idea and mods may differ from my view. :)

kaung, Thanks for your opinion. Please do vote in the poll.

Editing in my view was just for policy updates or plan / pricing updates and i see mods always using EDIT: which clearly says that the post was edited at that place and also mods have the final say on whether the post can be edited as per the user request or not. Or may be mods can use EDIT - Policy Update with an effective date mentioned by the host.

This was just a idea which can be developed further and mods can have their set of rules for this thread.
